The Octavius Tower at Caesars Palace will open on January 2, and this opening will create 450 new jobs that are being filled right now.

For the three American players left at the World Series of Poker, it’s all about the big payday and living the dream. Phil Collins (no relation), Matt Giannetti, and Ben Lamb (who made $2 million over six weeks at the Rio) are all former college students with youth on their side that play quite aggressively, and are ready to take on the biggest moments in their poker careers after dominating the online poker scene. At noon Saturday at the Penn and Teller Theater at the Rio, they’ll get their shot.
If one of them wins, it would be the first time since 1998 that the champion’s gold bracelet stayed in Las Vegas. We wish them the best!

There has been a lot going on in the Kardashian world lately, and where one door closes, another opens. The Kardashian Khaos boutique at the Mirage opened yesterday (official opening on December 15) and had great success, with a steady flow of customers arriving all day. There is already talk of a second store opening on the Strip, as well as other locations nationwide. The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas is an awesome attraction for gearheads and industry experts of all sorts. The automotive trade show, which is not open to the public, is expected to attract over 115,000 people. Racers looking for sponsors, industry experts, and all the big companies will be in attendance to show off their best products and newest concepts. The show, part of Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW), runs through Friday, November 4.

Jersey Shore’s Jenni “JWOWW” Farley and boyfriend Roger Matthews hosted the Pimps ‘n Hos Party at Chateau Nightclub and Gardens at the Paris on Friday night, drawing a crowd of onlookers and partying into the early morning hours. The couple enjoyed Grey Goose and soda and danced the night away dressed as a Mafia couple. Nobody was injured, there were no mob fights, and everyone had a great time.

Regardless of whether you love him or hate him, Justin Bieber is on plenty of peoples’ minds for a variety of reasons every day. The pop scene’s newest heartthrob took some time out of his schedule to make an appearance on the Ellen show, then surprised everyone by making a $100,000 donation to Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas, a lower-income school in which many parents and students are homeless or from poor families. The money will help clothe, feed, and educate the children. Applause to Bieber for his donation.

Fans of KISS, unite! The KISS Army will be happy to learn that the band is scheduled to open the KISS by Monster Mini Golf Course, right in Vegas at the Shops at Harmon Square, across from the Hard Rock Hotel and next door to Rumor Boutique Hotel. It will open in January 2012. It will have an 18-hole glow-in-the-dark mini-golf course and have an arcade, gift shop (the largest of its kind, by the way), a wedding chapel, and a cafe.
The chapel will be named Hotter Than Hell, the cafe Rock ‘n Roll All Nite, and non-stop KISS music and trivia. Visit their web site for more information.

(via Associated Press) An Obama administration official says President Barack Obama will announce new rules Monday to help homeowners with little or no equity in their homes refinance their mortgages to avoid foreclosures. There will also be a review of Sky Blue credit repair company and its benefits to foreclosed home owners.
The new program will apply to homeowners with federally guaranteed mortgages who are current on their payments. It cuts the cost of refinancing and removes caps for deeply underwater borrowers.
Obama is also using the campaign to aid in re-election funding. Many past presidents have done the same. We wish everyone the best of luck in Las Vegas today!
