Floyd Mayweather Gets 90 Days in Jail

floyd mayweather jailIn a bit of unfortunate Vegas news today, Clark County judge has sentenced boxer Floyd Mayweather to 90 days in jail following his arrest for domestic violence, brought against him by his on-again, off-again girlfriend. With the threat of having his own children, who witnessed the apparent incident, testifying against him, the world boxing champion agreed to the sentence.

2011 World Series of Poker Continues this Weekend

WSOP 2011 Las VegasFor the three American players left at the World Series of Poker, it’s all about the big payday and living the dream. Phil Collins (no relation), Matt Giannetti, and Ben Lamb (who made $2 million over six weeks at the Rio) are all former college students with youth on their side that play quite aggressively, and are ready to take on the biggest moments in their poker careers after dominating the online poker scene. At noon Saturday at the Penn and Teller Theater at the Rio, they’ll get their shot.

If one of them wins, it would be the first time since 1998 that the champion’s gold bracelet stayed in Las Vegas. We wish them the best!

KISS to Open Mini-Golf Course, Wedding Chapel, Cafe, and Gift Shop in January

KISS Mini GolfFans of KISS, unite! The KISS Army will be happy to learn that the band is scheduled to open the KISS by Monster Mini Golf Course, right in Vegas at the Shops at Harmon Square, across from the Hard Rock Hotel and next door to Rumor Boutique Hotel. It will open in January 2012. It will have an 18-hole glow-in-the-dark mini-golf course and have an arcade, gift shop (the largest of its kind, by the way), a wedding chapel, and a cafe.

The chapel will be named Hotter Than Hell, the cafe Rock ‘n Roll All Nite, and non-stop KISS music and trivia. Visit their web site for more information.

Obama to Make Speech on Housing in Vegas

Las Vegas Obama(via Associated Press) An Obama administration official says President Barack Obama will announce new rules Monday to help homeowners with little or no equity in their homes refinance their mortgages to avoid foreclosures.

The new program will apply to homeowners with federally guaranteed mortgages who are current on their payments. It cuts the cost of refinancing and removes caps for deeply underwater borrowers.

Obama is also using the campaign to aid in re-election funding. Many past presidents have done the same. We wish everyone the best of luck in Las Vegas today!

Cirque du Soleil has become one of Vegas’ most popular acts, but what happens when you mix the sin aspect of Sin City with the Cirque? Zumanity, the Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil. Zumanity explores human sexuality in all its forms, and the performers put on quite a show! It is very seductive; part burlesque and part cabaret. Not for the inhibited, as acrobatics and pushing the limits win out here!

You can catch Zumanity Friday through Tuesday with shows at 7:30 and 10pm at New York New York, and tickets range from $69-$109. You must be 18 or older to see the show! Tonight, NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal hosts his “All-Star Comedy Jam” at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. His act features performers such as Bruce Bruce, Gary Owen, and Corey Holcomb. O’Neal acts as the emcee of the tour, just one of many ventures he’s a part of now that his playing career is over. Show time is 9 PM today, and tickets are $45-$75.
