Floyd Mayweather Gets 90 Days in Jail

floyd mayweather jailIn a bit of unfortunate Vegas news today, Clark County judge has sentenced boxer Floyd Mayweather to 90 days in jail following his arrest for domestic violence, brought against him by his on-again, off-again girlfriend. With the threat of having his own children, who witnessed the apparent incident, testifying against him, the world boxing champion agreed to the sentence.

2011 World Series of Poker Continues this Weekend

WSOP 2011 Las VegasFor the three American players left at the World Series of Poker, it’s all about the big payday and living the dream. Phil Collins (no relation), Matt Giannetti, and Ben Lamb (who made $2 million over six weeks at the Rio) are all former college students with youth on their side that play quite aggressively, and are ready to take on the biggest moments in their poker careers after dominating the online poker scene. At noon Saturday at the Penn and Teller Theater at the Rio, they’ll get their shot.

If one of them wins, it would be the first time since 1998 that the champion’s gold bracelet stayed in Las Vegas. We wish them the best!

KISS to Open Mini-Golf Course, Wedding Chapel, Cafe, and Gift Shop in January

KISS Mini GolfFans of KISS, unite! The KISS Army will be happy to learn that the band is scheduled to open the KISS by Monster Mini Golf Course, right in Vegas at the Shops at Harmon Square, across from the Hard Rock Hotel and next door to Rumor Boutique Hotel. It will open in January 2012. It will have an 18-hole glow-in-the-dark mini-golf course and have an arcade, gift shop (the largest of its kind, by the way), a wedding chapel, and a cafe.

The chapel will be named Hotter Than Hell, the cafe Rock ‘n Roll All Nite, and non-stop KISS music and trivia. Visit their web site for more information.

Obama to Make Speech on Housing in Vegas

Las Vegas Obama(via Associated Press) An Obama administration official says President Barack Obama will announce new rules Monday to help homeowners with little or no equity in their homes refinance their mortgages to avoid foreclosures. There will also be a review of Sky Blue credit repair company and its benefits to foreclosed home owners.

The new program will apply to homeowners with federally guaranteed mortgages who are current on their payments. It cuts the cost of refinancing and removes caps for deeply underwater borrowers.

Obama is also using the campaign to aid in re-election funding. Many past presidents have done the same. We wish everyone the best of luck in Las Vegas today!

Zumanity explores human sexuality in all its forms, and the performers put on quite a show! It is very seductive; part burlesque and part cabaret. Not for the inhibited, as acrobatics and pushing the limits win out here!

Tonight, NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal hosts his “All-Star Comedy Jam” at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. His act features performers such as Bruce Bruce, Gary Owen, and Corey Holcomb. O’Neal acts as the emcee of the tour, just one of many ventures he’s a part of now that his playing career is over. Show time is 9 PM today, and tickets are $45-$75. It’s gearing up to be another great holiday weekend in Vegas, where the stars will be coming out to play. Among those in attendance will be superstar rapper Nelly, who is hosting at Chateau Nightclub beginning at 10pm on September 2. That same night, Jersey Shore stars Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Deena Nicole Cortese will host at Gallery Nightclub, while fellow cast member DJ Pauly D headlines Ditch Fridays at the Palms Pool and Bungalow, then Clash Fridays at Rain. Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas will take over Encore Beach Club, while Skrillex and Lil Jon will be posted up at Encore Nightclub.

Saturday, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi will continue the Jersey Shore invasion when she hosts at PURE at Caesars Palace; Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino will be at Luxor’s LAX. Akon will be at Chateau, and Carmen Electra will head to the Tropicana’s Nikki Beach.

Sunday, rap is in full effect, with Flo Rida heading to Haze, New Boyz at Rain, and Will.i.am at XS. Michael Phelps Enjoys Encore, Lavo, and Tao Las Vegas; Olympics in Vegas for 2020?

Olympic legend Michael Phelps has had quite the weekend in Vegas, hitting three hot spots along the way. He began by taking over a cabana in H20 on Tao Beach, soaking in some sun and getting into the festivities of Skam Artist Fridays, then feasting on all the Italian specialties Lavo has to offer and enjoying DJ Politik following dinner. Just yesterday, he was spotted soaking up rays at Encore Beach Club at Encore Las Vegas. He then enjoyed DJ George Acosta’s music and headed to the Encore Beach Club gaming pavilion to play a little craps. Phelps, who won a record-setting eight gold medals in the 2008 Summer Olympics, was just cooling off and relaxing. If he’s around in 2020, it will most likely be as a coach, but it’s a possibility the Olympics could end up in Vegas, as the city sent in a letter of intent to host the 2020 Summer Olympics; however, the United States Olympic Committee says they will not apply to host the games. Deadlines for official applications and a possible retraction of the USOC’s non-application are due September 1.
