Vegas Casinos Luxor and Excalibur Connected by Zipline? It’s Happening!

vegas casino ziplineMGM Resorts International is planning to string up zip lines between the Luxor and Excalibur.

There’s no tentative timeline for the new attraction, which will involve three lines including one connected to the apex of the Luxor’s pyramid. MGM representatives say it could be a unique alternative to simply walking between the casinos, and serve as a tamer thrill ride than bungee jumping.

The idea follows the successful installation of a zip line attraction at The Fremont Street Experience on the north end of the strip, and more news will be posted here as it becomes available. Thanks to Gizmodo.com for the information.

Lynyrd Skynyrd to Open New Vegas Restaurant at the Excalibur

Lynyrd Skynyrd's BBQ and Beer

While in town to play a concert at the M Resort and Casino, world-famous rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd toured another new facility–the future home of Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer at the Excalibur. Slated to open in December, the restaurant will feature Texas-style barbecue at all hours of the day and evening, then become a late night club with music and entertainment after hours. The band has already agreed to play shows there, and their memorabilia will line the walls. The facility is even modeled after their old practice and living space, Hell House. Band members Johnny Van Zant, Gary Rossington and Rickey Medlocke toured construction at the restaurant Friday. We’ll keep you posted as construction unfolds, and to prepare you, we have deals on rates at the Excalibur as low as $33/night!

Vegas Gaming Revenue Jumps 16 Percent in June

Bellagio Vegas Gaming

Even in an uncertain economy, Las Vegas continues to grow. In the month of June, statewide gambling revenue jumped 16 percent. This was the second straight month of increases of 10 percent or more, and the largest since February 2010. Most of the revenue came from high-spending baccarat players, so it sounds like more people need to head to our gambling section and check out How to Play Baccarat. Slot machines and table games also saw a significant increase, pointing to a recovery of the Vegas area as a whole. We’re happy to see that Vegas is doing well, and if you want to head out there and get going with the gambling, we have a deal for you at the Bellagio.

Excalibur Remodeled 1000 Rooms

Excalibur Remodeled 1000 to entice you to come back or at least stay there.

The last time I stayed at the Excalibur I was looking for any place to stay because of the Sema convention. I did get a great rate at the Excalibur and they still had rooms available in short notice. I wasn’t looking for plush just a place to lay my head. The rooms looked very dated and had some maintenance issues, like the shower wouldn’t drain, their were stains on the carpet, the windows weren’t clean and the carpet left a lot to be desired, Well lets just say everything was out-dated and needed to be replaced.

Excalibur Las Vegas has finally pulled the trigger and updated some of their rooms. They are called the Widescreen Rooms and they have been upgraded from floor to ceiling. They have a 42″ Plasma Screen Television, Pilow Top Mattresses, upgraded bathrooms with Granite and iPod Alarm clocks. The alarm clock didn’t work in our old room.

The Widescreen Rooms are a little more expensive but offer great views.
