South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa
South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa is an up and coming hotel and casino. They are more polished then they have been with a quick renovation or just some polish.
Rooms:
The first phase of the South Point is open with a total of 1350 rooms with the top floor containing all suites. Each oversized guest room is more like a mini-suite with state-of-the-art plasma screens and high speed internet connections for a fee. Suites range in size from 900 to 2,500 sq. ft.
The Room Quality is nice with larger than average rooms size. I wasn't too fond of the color scheme, but the Plasma TV was nice. The bathrooms were nothing to write home about, but they do have a coffee machine, woohoo!
Overall:
The casino was nice and large, the Service was adequate and sometimes hard to get a drink of any sorts and yes we were tipping.
The people we saw were middle aged, kind of dull if you ask us. There were no nightclubs, unless you count the salsa dancing.
Food:
The food choices were good and the prices aren't bad. The Buffet was so so with the normal fare. The Steakhouse was pretty good and wasn't too bad on the pocket book.
Michael's Gourmet Room
Michael's in Vegas has been a fine dining staple for over 20 years. The restaurant has only 50 seats, they call it the "Gourmet Room". The food is still great and worth the time.

Salsero: Thursday 8pm
A Latain Dance Experience. The first part of the evening will be for the enthusiast who wishes to learn how to dance... Latin Style! Salseros professional dance instructors, Rene Delgadillo and Susan Del Buenaventura will conduct the lessons on a weekly basis. Rene and Susan are highly respected in the Latin Dance community through their numerous National accomplishments as professional dancers / instructors. Different styles will be taught accordingly. Learn Salsa this week, then Merengue the next one and so on and so forth.
The second part of the evening is dedicated to the professionals and semi-professionals who wish to compete for a weekly prize. The only qualification to compete is to have a partner who wants to have a goodtime and is definitely not afraid to be in the spotlight.
Lastly, dance all night to the music of a 11 Piece Live Band headed by the world renowned grammy award winner Michito Sanchez. Michito performed with great mainstream superstars like Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Gloria Estefan, Luis Enrique, Arturo Sandoval (Grammy Nomination), Luis "perico" Oritz, Tito Nieves, Andy Montaņez, Azuquita, La India, Luis Miquel (Grammy), Juanes (Grammy) Song of the Year, Michael Stuart, Raul Malo, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, and an endless list of recordings, videos and live performances in every genre of music.
The Prince Tribue: Friday 10pm
Purple Reign began at the small but then popular UNLV college club Tom & Jerry's in the summer of 1997. Front man Jason Tenner formed the group with high school band-mates Jason Underwood (bassist) and Brent Wheeler (guitarist) after dressing as Prince for a Halloween party at the Hard Rock Hotel-Casino the previous year. " People's reactions were crazy!" recalls Tenner. "They kept wanting pictures, asking where I was performing and how they could get tickets! It was wild!"
